5-4-3-2-1! Quick Grounding Exercise

This quick exercise will help to get you OUT OF YOUR HEAD and INTO THE PRESENT MOMENT!

5 – LOOK:  Name 5 things that you can SEE and say them out loud.  For example:  “my feet, a blue car, the door, my cat, the clock.”

4 – FEEL:  Name 4 things that you can FEEL and say them out loud.  For example: “my shoes on my feet, my glasses on my face, the steering wheel against the palms of my hands, the seat against my back.”

3 – LISTEN:  Name 3 things that you can HEAR and say them out loud.  For example:  “music playing in the background, people talking in the other room, the traffic outside.”

2 – SMELL:  Name 2 things that you can SMELL and say them out loud (if you can’t smell anything, name 2 of your favorite smells)

1 – TASTE:  Name 1 thing you can TASTE and say it out loud (if you can’t taste anything, name 1 favorite taste)

Repeat if you need to!
